The Bride & Groom

We met on a dating site in 2008 and our first date was at a random sushi place in D.C. that Jen found on Yelp. Apparently strangers on the Internet aren't always reliable, as the restaurant wasn't nearly as great as the company and conversation. So after dinner, we headed to RFD, a solid craft-beer sports bar, to catch the UConn Huskies play basketball (and win!).

After a few dates and many online chats, we discovered we had the same cellphone ringtone: "Brass Bonanza," the cheesy, 70s-tastic brass anthem of the now-defunct Hartford Whalers (which you can listen to by playing the video above). Fate? I think so!

Fast-forward to 2011, when Jesse decided to recreate our second date for our three-year anniversary. A fantastic dinner at Clyde's was followed by a chilly walk on the National Mall. Three years ago we tried unsuccessfully to locate the National Christmas Tree (don't ask how, but it probably has to do with Jen's terrible sense of direction); this year we found it, but Jesse couldn't find the right spot. So we went down to the Washington Monument, where he proposed!
